We took the kids to see the Santa at the mall. Scott made it clear he was too old to sit on his knee and pose for a picture. How did I forget 10 is grown up? I told him that M, who is two, would likely be scared of Santa, and if she was would he go up and let her sit on his knee. He agreed to that. Now that is just what Steve and I expected to happen. That Divy and F, who is 3, would run up to him, and M would cry and not want to go. Well, the opposite happened. Divy and M ran right to him, and hopped up to sit with him. So Scott ended up taking F up, and we got our picture with all four youngest in it. ![]()

Today my youngest asked me if he had another daddy somewhere. We talk all the time about his birth mom, but never about his birth father. That is because we have no information about him. The one man that was named was proven by DNA testing to not be his father. It is like a big piece of the puzzle is missing. I told him that yes, he does have another father, but we don't know him. He was perfectly happy with that, but I worry how he'll feel when he gets a bit older.

Thanks Darla for posting this.
Here is my letter to Santa. You can write your own here.
Dear Santa,
I have been a good Girl.
It really wasn't my fault what happened at Linda's Christmas party. It was Sandy who spiked the punch with too much rum. I can't help it if I drank 42 glasses. It was so good---smelled and tasted just like Lavendar.
I thought it was funny when I put Bev's skirt on my head and danced the tango on the computer chair while singing `We are the Champions'. I didn't mean to break Linda's Palm Pilot and don't know why Linda would sue me for fraud.
I don't remember calling Rob's wife a fast donkey---even though she looked like one with purple eye shadow and red lipstick!
And when I threw up on Kelly's husband's bum, it was only because I ate too much of that pasta.
After all that fun, I admit I was a little tired. So I fell asleep on my way home and drove my skidoo through my neighbor's chimney. I don't think that was any reason for my neighbor to call me a funky rooster and have me arrested for murder!
So, Santa...here I sit in my jail cell on Christmas Eve, all super and shifty. And I'm really not to blame for any of this wide stuff. Please bring me what I want the most---bail money!
Sincerely and fast yours,
Laura (Really a nice Girl!)
P.S. It's only 37 bucks!

We are back, we had success!! We met up with Kevin on both Friday and Saturday nights. All in all, a great weekend.
We headed up island Friday morning. Stopped at Goldstream Park to see the salmon spawning. Stopped again for lunch. Got to our hotel and checked in. We waited and waited to hear from Kevin. Thankfully our hotel had a pool, so the kids had fun swimming. Finally, just before 5, we got the call. Too bad he was an hour and a half away, lol. Off we go, racing up the highway. Luckily, the speed limit was 110. We hadn't told Divy that we were going to see Kevin. He thought it was just a little weekend trip. He was starting to complain about how hungry he was, so I told him we were trying to find someplace good to eat. We finally arrived at where Kevin was. I said to Divy that we would stop and ask those guys if they knew where we could go for supper. As Kevin walked towards the van, Divy just went nuts! It was so cute, I wish I had been thinking and had the camera ready to capture the expression on his face when he realized it was Kevin!
Kevin knew where he would be on Saturday night, so we checked out of our hotel on Saturday morning, and went further up the island. We found a hotel that was only 10 minutes from where he was going to be spending the night. We had to wait until just before 6 pm for him to be done for the day, so the kids got to swim again. We went and picked Kevin up and went out for dinner, then back to the hotel just to hang out. It was so nice.
Now, only 26 more days til he comes home for Christmas.

We are going to become stalkers. We are heading up island in the morning, and getting a hotel in an area close to where Kevin is. That way, if he gets some free time and calls, we'll be no more than an hour away. The hotel I booked has something called a kids fun suite, so that is what I've booked us. If we end up sitting around waiting, there is also a pool for swimming. I guess this is sorta like an impromptu vacation.

Today my #1 son is on the island. He arrived here last night. We are hoping to meet up with him. I say hoping, because in typical military fashion, he isn't sure where he'll be on which days, or when he'll have a bit of free time. TG the island isn't that big! He only has to call and say he has a couple hours, and we'll all hop in the van and hope to get to him before they head out again, lol.
I knew they were arriving last night. I was out at a meeting, and didn't get in until 9:30 p.m. So what did I dream last night? I arrived home from my meeting, and there was Kevin, sitting in the living room. Wait, not only Kevin, but his entire company, or whatever it's called. There were dozens and dozens of them, in various rooms of the house. I was kind of choked at him, because I could not get any private time with him. At the same time, I was trying to be understanding cause I know how he brags about what a beautiful city we live in, and he just wanted to show it off to his friends!
On that note, I am glad that the torrential rains of the past week have finally stopped. He brags to the guys about the weather here, and they have snow in Edmonton. He told me that it didn't matter if it was raining, it would still be nicer than it was in Edmonton. Today is beautiful with clear blue skys and bright sunshine. Makes it much nicer when you are outdoors training.
Thanks for the words about my last post.
I KNOW the person I was speaking of will be ok, but I can't help but worry about her in the mean time.
Now I'm off to our Parent/Student/Teacher interview for Scott. Nothing to worry about there, as he is such a smart kid and a hard worker. I have to enjoy this while it lasts. Cause with two who have already graduated, I am well aware that his dedication to learning may not be quite as strong in years to come as it is now, in Grade 5.

Happy 90th Birthday Grandma!!!

Why can life be so unfair to people who deserve only the best? Good loving people, who live their life honorably, never doing anything to harm another. People who would give their right arm to help others? I wish I had the answers, and could remove all the crap, all the sorrows. I do believe in karma, but sometimes it takes a long time to come into play.

I bought Kevin an early Christmas present today. A plane ticket home. Now because we here in Canada are taxed to death and back again, a flight that cost $315.00 comes to $410.27. Does that seem nuts to anyone else? Paying about 33% in various surcharges and taxes SUCKS! Don't get me wrong, I'd pay any amount to have my #1 son home for Christmas, or any time, but really, how much is too much? Not like there is an alternative. Other than Greyhound, LOL!
Kevin and Heather are moving in together. They have an apartment for Dec. 1st. This year she won't be coming with him for the holidays. She recently started working at a group home for 8-15 year old boys with FAS. Because she has no seniority yet, she has to work. I told the kids that she wasn't coming, and they are so sad! They think of Kevin as a package deal, when you say Kevin, you say Heather! Like his name has become Kevinandheather!
