  • This pic was taken a couple weeks back, and it's where we are heading for the weekend.  I just need to hop in the shower, then go pick the boys up from school and we'll hit the road.

  • I think we are pretty much ready. I have one load of laundry to finish up and I'll do that in the morning. I went to Walmart to see Annie during her break, then went to stop at the grocery store to get the things we need for the weekend. It takes a loonie to get a cart, which you get back when you return the cart. I always keep a loonie in my ashtray. Tonight I went to get it so I could get my cart, and someone had used it but not put it back! I was so pissed I came home, lol. How is that for immature?  I will get the groceries in the morning too.

  • We've just decided to take off for the weekend. Ackkk! I need to get the motorhome ready. Since this will be our first trip of the year, it is a big job. Once we've used it once, then the basics are in there, ready for the next time. The house is a mess, and I want to get that cleaned up before we go anywhere. So, I need to make a menu, get groceries, clean the motorhome and stock it, clean the house and do laundry. We plan to leave in the morning.

To add to the newt story, we've added to the newts. One more newt to be exact. The kids were worried the one would be lonely on his own.

Eileen, the shoes are, I think, Easy Step. I would check and tell you for sure, but my darling daughter thought they as cute as I did, which means they are out, on her feet, at the moment.

  • I am home from the conference. It was busy, but we did have a wee bit of time for fun.  The nights were our own, so we made the most of being together with good friends. Things were wrapped up by Sunday morning, and three of us decided not to head right for the ferry home. We hit the mall!! I found one of my favourite shops, Cotton Ginny and treated myself to a couple of new outfits. I then found the slides I'd been looking for since last summer. Not that I hadn't been able to find them before now, but they were always too skinny for my ever so W I D E feet. I finally found them wide enough, so I was a happy camper. They were in a very pricey shop, but were on sale for 40% off. Can't beat that!

I come home to find out Annie had taken the kids out shopping while I was away. She decided we needed yet another pet. How many of you consider a newt a pet? Oh well, I must admit the kids are thrilled with it.

  • I spent this morning over at a friends, helping to make sandwiches, etc. for a funeral. Well, yk, for the gathering afterwards.  It is for a good friend of my friend, who's husband died. She had said she was going to have it catered. This was going to cost her many hundreds of dollars!  So, my friend spent $160. on supplies, and we made six trays of sandwiches, two fruit trays, two veggie trays and two dessert trays. There was four of us working together, and it was finished up in no time. Although I didn't know this couple well, it made me feel good that I was able to do something for her.

We didn't go camping for the long weekend. It was overcast, cool and there was rain showers happening off and on. Now it has been nice for this week. It is supposed to turn crappy again for this coming weekend! We won't be going camping anyhow, as I'm headed to the mainland. I've got a conference in Richmond. Aww, time away, and a nice quiet hotel room.

I did get quite a bit accomplished on the weekend. I stained a gossip bench for my deck, and got all my plants and seeds in. Now everything looks so pretty! I hate gardening, but I sure like flowers.

  • Last night, Annie went camping. They didn't head out until almost 10 p.m. as she was working a play at her school. She had to be back today in time for work at 4:30. I let her take my van. That is the last time. She will only be using her own vehicle for school or work. Steve took the boys out today, and noticed something on my van. There is a dent on the drivers side front, the back bumper is almost ripped off, and there is a big scratch and dent on the passenger side. Now, that in itself is enough to piss me off. The bigger problem here is that she never said a fucking thing about it. What did she think, that it would somehow repair itself before we'd notice? I am beyond livid, and I think that may not be strong enough to describe how Steve is feeling. This is the first time she has ever done anything so irresponsible. WTF could she have been thinking????

  • We aren't going camping. Everyone went and made plans, how rude! We are going to take the motorhome to the beach for the day on Sunday. That way we have our own toilet and kitchen, lol. I guess that means I should work on the baby room. Or if it is nice, I'll work on getting some more flowers put in.

I have some rare alone time. Annie is working at a play, doing the sound. Steve has gone to watch. Scott has gone with a friend to a lacrosse game, and Divy has been asleep since 6:30. It has been a long long time since we haven't had a baby in the house. What is a girl to do? Why pour yourself a drink of course! By the time Steve gets home, I'll probably be on the floor.

Last night, a friend's husband died, after a fight with cancer. Actually, she is more the friend of a friend.  A bunch of us are getting together Wed. morning to make sandwiches and put together the food for after the service. It is so hard to see someone you know going through such a tough time.

  • On Wed. morning I dropped our two year old off at home, for the last time. She is now living full time with her parents. I am so happy for this family, and have great hope that things are going to work out wonderfully for them. They have worked very hard to get to where they are today, and deserve nothing but the best.

This morning I went and met the two little girls that will be moving to our home sometime near the end June. I had thought it might happen sooner, but the plan is to move them over very slowly, starting with us visiting them in their home, and then them coming to ours for visits. Once everyone is comfortable, they will begin spending a few overnights. They are such outgoing, engaging little ones! They are also completely bonded to their foster parents. It is sad that they have to be faced with another move. The FP they are with now are friends of ours, so they will continue to see them, which is a good thing.

The weather has been beautiful, and we've talked about taking the motorhome and camping for this upcoming long weekend. Wouldn't you know that now the forecast is calling for increasing cloud, and rain. If we don't go I want to redo the room the girls will be moving into. It is so rare that we have nobody in our "babies room" so this is a perfect chance to work on it. I have been buying a bunch of Pooh things to go with the bedding that is on the cribs. Camping, or painting and redecorating? I'd much rather go camping, but we'll let the weather make the final decision.

  • Just a quick note to say I'm back! Our company left early today, now I'm headed out for a few hours. I'll write more when I get back.  Thanks for missing me Donna.
